1964 election

The United States presidential election of 1964 was the sixth-most lopsided presidential election in the history of the United States. President Lyndon B. Johnson had come to office less than a year earlier following the assassination of his predecessor, John F. Kennedy. Johnson also successfully painted his opponent, Republican Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, as a right-wing legislator who wanted to abolish the social welfare programs created in the 1930s. LBJ advocated more programs. He included three: Medicare, Medicaid, and the War on Poverty. With these factors working for him, Johnson easily won the Presidency, carrying 44 of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Johnson won 61.1% of the national popular vote, which remains the highest popular-vote percentage won by a U.S. presidential candidate since 1820. The election is also remembered due to Goldwater's status as a pioneer in the modern conservative movement.

1960 election

John F. Kennedy VS. Nixon

This election John F. Kennedy won. I believe he won because he was funny and handsome which was the real reason he won. Wherefore Nixon was old serious and seemed very bland. This was the closes election their ever was. They were in a middle of a war and John F. Kennedy had no experience. Were Nixon had many experiences and was a war hero. I believe Nixon should of won because of all his experiences. Who do you think should of won?

Hippie year

I interviewed my grandma who actually lived in the hippie stage and had a friend that was a hippie. She was not a hippie. Hippies have a lot of bright colors and songs about love and peace they also had long hair. They were living in comunes and took lsd drugs that would made you hallucinate.

I once had a friend who overdosed on lsd. He had no ideal were he was or even who he was. It was kind of scary to watch. A place called "Ash Berry" was a big place to go in San Francisco. They would call these places love inns. They also would sit in parks and sing songs trying to encourage other people to join. Thier motto was "Don't trust anyone over the age 30 some even 20." Kids would run away from home because parents would not approve and since the vietam war was going on they would have people go around to collect people and they would not want to go.

JAck Musick was home on leave visiting his brothers and parents. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany so he didn't get to come home very often. His father, Arthur worked in the oil fields in Bakersfield, California. His brother Art was still at home but soon after joined the Air Force and was Stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base, Montana. His brother Harold started his own business in Bakersfield where he rebuilt auto transmissions. It was called Musick's Transmission Center. His brother Leonard was the head account for Exxon Oil Company. Arthur and Harold are the only two still living. Arthur Musick moved his whole family to Bakersfield, California sometime around 1935 from Childress, Texas. They were farmers but since crops were failing during the Dust bowl years they had to move to find employment. Great Great Grandpa Arthur was going to stay in Texas but his older brothers sold the family home so he had no place to live and had to move.

1956 Election

The 1956 election was a repeat of 1952.

Stevenson knowing Eisenhower popularity

rate tried to use everything against him that he could.

He used Eisenhower age and health because recently

he had survived a heart attack. Stevenson

was popular with the liberals for he was for

"all- volunteer" army, and social programs.

Eisenhower did three great things that helped

him become popular.

He ended the korean war,

prosperous to the nation,

and supported the brown vs. board of Ed.

One thing I think they both should of done was the issue about civil rights. What do you think?

1952 election

United States Presidential Election 1952
November 4, 1952

The United States presidential election of 1952 took place during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Combined with national tension and weariness after two years of bloody stalemate in the Korean War, set the stage for a hotly fought presidential contest.

The Democratic Party nominated Governor Adlai Stevenson of Illinois; Stevenson had gained a reputation in Illinois as a great speaker. The Republican Party chose popular war hero General Dwight D. Eisenhower who won in a landslide. Eisenhower, at 62, was the oldest man to become President.

1948 Election

During the 1948 election there were many issues. People were worry about the fact that Dewey lost to Truman. There were people saying how much Dewey will win by.
The things everyone was having trouble with Truman is the fact he was against the race and the lack of rights everyone were having. In 1948 the U.S.A. became the world's most powerful nation thanks to the atomic bombs that were dropped in the cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Which killed over 140,000 people.
There were 5 big things Harry Truman did as president.

1) Drop the atomic bomb?
2) Supported railroad and coal miners in their strike.
3) Civil rights- desegregated the Army?
4) support creation of new country- Israel?

5) Marshall Plan.

The Americans started getting worried about Russia and what they should do about them since they found out about the atomic bomb? I think Harry Truman did fulfilled his responsibility as president of America.

1936 presidentual election

The United States presidential election of 1936 was the most lopsided presidential election in the history of the United States.
This election was the third biggest vote since 1820.
During the 1936 election campaign the democrats were scare. Because of a flaw

poll conducted by Literary Digest incorrectly predicted a landslide victory for Roosevelt's.
The election was skewed at first because polltakers had relied on literary digest.

They had predicted that 55% of the votes would go to Alf Landon.
They were wrong. On Election Day 1936, was the day of greatest
electoral triumph for the Democrats in the party's history.
The president received 27,752,869 votes. Landon's received 16,674,665 votes.
Landon, who won in only Maine and Vermont, got only 8 votes.

Roosevelt received 523. Making this the 3 biggest landslides in Victory.
